I like to use memos and the pen and paper around me to record my thoughts anytime, anywhere. Sometimes the ideas that come to me in a flash of light are easily hit by reality and thus left behind.

Later on, I gradually found that I am not satisfied with the thin record of words, I want to record my emotions and thoughts through painting, and thus create a dialogue with myself and the audience.

Cantonese Opera is one of China's ancient forms of theatre and comes from my hometown, in the south-east of China.

Cantonese Opera has been passed down for centuries, but nowadays it has been subjected to the impact of modern culture and is gradually fading into oblivion.

In my childhood memories, my great-grandfather used to watch the Cantonese opera "Imperial Daughter's Flower" late at night. As a child, I didn't understand it, but I was attracted by the wonderful images and dance movements in the opera, and so this memory left a deep impression on me.

When I grew up, I slowly learnt that the opera was about a female heroine, which brought back memories and deepened my understanding of the resilience and bravery of ancient women. So I wanted to convey it through my images.
